Information, insight and opinions that might
influence the way you think, understand or parent.
Welcome to our first issue of Written for You. In the information age in which we live, filled with fake news, alternate facts, social media and an abundance of views on everything, we thought perhaps in our quiet space here we could address some issues of importance to you in a way that is helpful.
Some of what will be offered each month might be relevant to you or not relevant at all. That’s refreshing; everything is not equally relevant or equally interesting or even equally important. Take away what matters to you, and leave behind topics or information that does not make your life somehow better.
We also welcome your questions or ideas that can be used as the topic of a future Written for You. Perhaps we can begin a dialogue among us that will enhance understanding or resolve a dilemma. The Center’s website was launched in February (centerforcounselingservices.com), therefore we can use that platform to broadcast our collective views and opinions, as well as offer the latest science on the topics.
Our lives can be complicated at times. We have the responsibility to ourselves and our children to create moments and places for calm. We know we cannot continue to push ahead day after day without giving thought to our own personal wellbeing. We know that the stresses of life sometimes become toxic stresses that affect our physical and emotional selves. We know that the messages we receive, and our children receive, from others do not always promote health, connection and cooperation. It doesn’t have to be that way.
Written for You will be written just for you. Look for it. Consider its messages. Talk about the implications. What interests you? Issues of school performance, declining grades, family tension, drug use, social media, anxiety, depression, relationships? The topics are endless. What will help you?
Together we can make a difference.
